Privacy policy
Best Side Media is a sole-trader photography practice based in London, United Kingdom (“I”, “me”). I am the data controller for the personal data described on this page. This policy explains what I collect through this website, why, and what your rights are under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What I collect, and why
The only personal data this site collects is what you type into the inquiry form:
- Name, email address and phone number — so I can reply to your inquiry, including calling you back about it.
- The type of work, dates, location and your brief — so I can scope and quote the job.
The lawful basis for this processing is consent: the form only sends if you tick the consent box, and replying to you before a contract exists is also in my legitimate interest as a business responding to a direct inquiry. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking me to delete your inquiry.
Where your data goes
- Form submissions are emailed to my inbox via Resend (an email delivery provider) and are not stored in any database operated by this website.
- This site is hosted on Vercel, whose infrastructure processes requests (including IP addresses in standard server logs) to serve the site.
I do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone else. No marketing lists. No newsletters you did not ask for.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no marketing or tracking cookies and runs no third-party advertising scripts. If privacy-respecting, cookie-less analytics are added in future, this policy will be updated first.
How long I keep it
Inquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the job and my business records — at most 24 months after our last contact, unless we enter a contract (in which case records are kept as required by UK tax law) or you ask me to delete them sooner.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal data I hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these, reply to any email thread we have, or send a new message through the inquiry form. I will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Photography and image rights
Photographs taken on commissions are handled under the terms agreed for each job — see the terms & conditions. For street photography in public places I follow UK law and a simple courtesy rule: if someone asks not to be photographed, they aren’t; if someone asks for a frame of them to be deleted, it is.
Changes
Any change to this policy appears on this page with a new “last updated” date. Significant changes will be flagged to anyone with an open inquiry.
